Design Engineer Pathway - Professional Engineer (PE)
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER (PE)
Engineers are encouraged to obtain their Professional Engineering (PE) license. To obtain your PE you will need to provide verification of at least 4 years of engineering work experience following the completion of your bachelor’s degree. Your work experience must be verified by five individuals with three of them being licensed professional engineers. Your bachelor’s degree will need to be obtained through a CEAB accredited program or you will need to have your education evaluated to assure it meets the ABET guidelines and standards. Following your education and work experience you will need to take a two part exam. Part I is the Fundamentals of Engineering and Part II is Principles and Practice of Engineering. Additional information and materials can be obtained on Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) website.
